To search for a Planning Application you can enter values in more than one field if required and the search will return all records that meet the criteria set.

None of the fields are case sensitive. Using the 'Date Search' dates can be selected by typing in the format "21-09-2005".

Please Note: There is a limit of 2000 characters when using the comments box to comment online. If you are likely to exceed this limit then you must submit your comments either in writing to Planning, Housing and the Built Environment, South Norfolk Council, Swan Lane, Long Stratton, Norfolk, NR15 2XE or by email - planning@s-norfolk.gov.uk

You need to know that this is a public website and your comments will be seen by everyone, along with your name, signature, address and any contact details you supply (e.g. telephone number and email address).

Make sure that your comments are relevant and not defamatory or offensive, because you remain personally and legally responsible for them. We reserve the right to remove from this website the entirety of any comment which contains any words which are or may be defamatory or offensive.

How to comment on a planning application.

What you should know about the Planning Explorer

  • Searching by ward, parish or applicant name: if you choose to search by any of these on their own the system may 'freeze'. However, if you refine your search further (e.g. choose a date range as well as a ward or parish) then it will work OK.
  • Related documents (e.g. application form, plans, Decision Notice etc.) - currently we have scanned documents going back to May 2005, so you won't find the application form, plans or Decision Notices from applications before then. 
  • Building Control applications - we are not currently publishing information about these on our website.
  • Planning application reference numbers - if you search the planning explorer by the application reference number, make sure you use the correct format. Valid reference numbers begin with the year, then a forward-slash, then the unique reference - e.g. 2006/1234
